Testimonials

I really can’t express how utterly perfect my new home is!  I discover new details all the time and am in awe at how this place has turned out. My friend asked me recently, now the house is finished; is there was anything we wish we had done differently, or if there was anything that I found annoying?  My reply was no, the house in my mind is utterly perfect, blows me away and amazes me every time I’m here.  I think it’s a true masterpiece!

I really don’t think I can ever thank you enough for creating such a magical house, and creating the vision I always hoped it would be. This will be a home for many years, full of adventures and wonderful memories. Thank you Becky, from all of us, for the hard work and passion you have put into our project.

The challenge of achieving suitable planning permission for the re-development of the old GP surgery, in the centre of the historic & beautiful village of Chew Magna in Bath & NE Somerset, was always going to be enormous. I will forever be grateful to the team at RD Architects who embraced this challenge and made the commitment do whatever was necessary to achieve a wonderful outcome.

RD Architects were particular sensitive to the difficulty of optimising the central village location but being mindful of the need to plan for a building that is contextually beautiful and adding to the architectural heritage of the village.

RD Architects spent many hours in achieving a shared vision for the project while paying particular attention to details, and understanding the architectural vernacular of the surrounding area. They extensively researched local planning needs & most importantly were able to achieve a co-operative relationship with local planning authorities that was invaluable in understanding what plans might be supported.

As a novice to this scale of planning application, I was particular thankful for their clear description of the journey. At all times I knew exactly what they were doing, and equally importantly what we were going to be billed for. This transparency of process was invaluable. As well as attending meetings with the Planning Officers with me, they also made a highly accomplished presentation to the Parish Council & met potential developers with me to discuss details of the plans.

We were delighted to achieve successful planning.  Our relationship with RD Architects was characterised by high levels of trust & a deep appreciation of their professionalism & very impressive skills.

RD Architects have carried out a wonderful job of securing planning permission for our house renovation in what was a difficult project due to restricted access and various build constraints. They fulfilled every aspect of the brief, which included significantly increasing the square footage within our home and maintaining the character of the inside of the house, whilst helping to make the outside more attractive. They were always available, delivered to their projected timescales and were thoroughly pleasant to work with.

We were extremely impressed with how down-to-earth and straightforward RD Architects were in sharing their extensive knowledge of planning and building with us, from the very beginning of the project, holding our hands throughout the process and guiding us each step of the way to ensure that the build lived up to our expectations in every way. We are absolutely delighted with the final product, and are thrilled to be able to enjoy spending time working and living in our wonderful family home. We would not hesitate to recommend Rebecca and her team for any project, large or small, and would consider ourselves fortunate to be able to call upon RD Architect’s expertise and wealth of knowledge, for any future projects we might envisage.

I would like to tell you a bit about our experience of Rebecca of RDArchitects. April 2009 we bought a plot of land with a derelict barn; it had planning permission for a small, not very exciting four-bedroom home. The site was amazing surrounded by fields and panoramic views of Chew Valley Lakes. We had a dream of making this into our family home but we needed help. Our decision choosing an Architect was surprisingly simple, we spoke to and spent some time with a couple of highly recommended ones and decided without doubt that Rebecca was the person we wanted to design our house. We found Rebecca not only highly knowledgeable but she had such enthusiasm that we honestly felt like she shared our excitement towards the whole adventure.

Our planning application was not without a few problems but Rebecca’s calm and level headed manner got us exactly what we wanted. She even waited for me outside Bath Theatre after the Committee Meeting to tell me the fantastic news that we had been granted full permission.

Our dream house has been drawn up and is ready to build and I can honestly say the design Rebecca has put together is by far superior to anything we ever imagined.

I cannot recommend Rebecca highly enough and would strongly recommend her to any friends, family or anyone endeavouring to take on a big project

We have recently used RD Architects to design a new extension for our house. I have personally known Rebecca Dyer for just over 2 years.

I cannot recommend Rebecca more highly and would strongly recommend the company to anyone looking for an architect.

She is extremely committed and capable and always able to find solutions to problems. She is very innovative yet practical and able to incorporate the client's brief into her designs. She is both reliable and hard working and keeps you well informed throughout every stage of the process.

She follows up every phone call, email or letter immediately and is always professional but still approachable and one of the most thorough and precise people I have met.

She has been a real pleasure to work with

Rebecca Dyer of R.D. Architects Ltd first came to my attention as a result of her article in HOMEBUILDING & RENOVATION Magazine. The article featured 'Trees'. She designed and built a modern open-plan well lit family home for herself, two young children, and her architect husband.

She suggested visiting our site in rural Suffolk, with a view to producing ideas to suit ourselves, our living style, and the particular aspects of our six acre wooded site. A lot of time spent, and questions answered, ensured that our needs were understood. Her ideas reinforced our own, and introduced some others we had not thought of to exploit the best aspects of our site. We were delighted with the design.

The presentation to the planners was to build on the new site more centrally within the plot, and to demolish the old house. This change of position and an increased footprint might have been a problem, but it was justified by design and narrative and the application was recommended by the planning officer and accepted on first attempt by the planning committee. Rebecca has an excellent understanding of how these things work. The presentation was very professional, and the design pleasing to pretty much all who saw it. This local appreciation matching the award Rebecca received on television's Grand Designs" best modern new build," and much other national acclaim.

The terms and conditions offered by R.D.A. closely followed the format suggested by the R.I.B.A. These were amicable.

I have no hesitation in recommending R.D.A. to any other prospective client

We bought an 'unusual' looking house in a stunning location and had the need to extend to create an annex, and at the same time try and resolve the odd appearance of the rest of the building. R.D. Architects came up with a solution that will transform this odd looking house into an interesting and bespoke structure sitting in the A.O.N.B. and green belt.

Due to R.D. Architects design work this very odd looking house will be re-modeled to reach its potential and at the same time create a refreshing living space for my family, I cannot recommend them enough.
